Who knew that mayo lasted so long. Still won’t make me buy a bigger jar, because Murphy’s Law says that I won’t use the big container, but I will go through a smaller jar every few weeks, thus spending more money on the same amount of mayo.

Submissions are officially closed for the July issue of ITAK. I was going to work on it today, but I have hit a couple of snags.

I had a hard time getting myself going this morning, and by the time I was moving along, I had to make it to my appointment to try and donate plasma. I am diabetic, so I hit a snag there, but from what I was told, I should still be able to donate after an Okay from my doctor.

I finished with the appointment and dropped the paperwork off at the doctor’s office for the official “okey dokey”, ran a couple errands, and met my husband at home to take him to his appointment for plasma. [Side note: the first time you donate, you have to go through a more thorough physical than subsequent donations. Also, Orlok had to work, thus his appointment was later.]

Literally as we were walking out of our building, my mom called to tell me that my grandpa (my dad’s dad) died this morning. We went to the appointment anyway. After we arrived, my dad called me and I received a few more details. I left Orlok at the facility and went into my work to inform management of the situation then went home to wait for Orlok to finish his appointment. Over the course of an hour, my mom called me three times and my brother twice trying to get all of the details passed around.

What does this mean for ITAK? It means that because I work tomorrow, and have no idea what the rest of the week holds regarding the wake and funeral, I don’t know when I’m going to be able to work on ITAK. I am planning to have it finished by the 15th, though. Watch this space for more info.

In happier news, I have a few paintings that are in an exhibit for the month of July at Rice Print Shop. The owner, Vanesa L. Wojtanowicz, is planning to dedicate the exhibit to both her grandfather (who passed last September) and my grandfather. The opening is July 5th.

Wow…just wow

Tale of Frustration: Man struggles to cancel AOL

This is amazing, but not uncommon. When I cancelled my AOL account in early 2005, I got 2 months free. When I called 2 months later, I had to yell at the guy to finally close my account. Reading that story makes me wish I had recorded the conversation.

It’s not just with AOL, either. When I called Charter to cancel some stuff with our cable/internet account to save money, the rep changed my plan to some promotional thing. Companies really don’t want you to leave, and are willing to do just about anything to make sure that you don’t.

Today Orlok and I went to the Sartell Sprint Store and renewed our contract. We changed our plan to Fair and Flexible and I got a new phone. I have a nifty little cameraphone now, and my old phone is Orlok’s backup (he’s on his 3rd phone in 2 years).

I also spent the day running various errands. I have a new PO Box in St. Cloud (I updated the contact and store pages already), dropped off grocery bags and newspaper at my work and did a little shopping, stopped by my dad’s store and gave him the laptop specs (I want to know if more RAM can be installed), and checked up on some financial stuff.

I also went out to Rice today and updated my business card (I’ll have to order new ones again) and learned how to file quarterly sales tax returns.

Tomorrow I have to work for 6 hours and then Orlok and I will spend the evening watching the first few episodes of Murder One that he bought today. Wednesday will find us driving to Wyoming (MN) to visit Orlok’s friend Tony, who is visiting from PA. Last time we saw him was the summer before Orlok and I got married.

I’ve received a few more excellent submissions for ITAK. This issue is looking to be much larger than issue 2. I can’t wait to start working on it at the beginning of July.

P.S. Happy 28th birthday to my brother. May you have many more.

Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s out there who are there for their kids.

Met my family for brunch, and some of the extended family was there. This month my grandma discovered where I work, and thus it was topic of discussion (which I didn’t want to talk about. at. all.) for about half the time we were there. My dad liked the gift, as far as we know. He doesn’t show emotion sometimes.

I worked today, and had the chance to talk about ITAK with one of my supervisors while he was on break. It was really nice to talk about my stuff and not have to compete for the attention of the store.

Speaking of ITAK, I’m getting a lot of great submissions. This issue is looking to be more graphic intensive, though. I might have to do a mailing to a few people who are writers. Of course, I have my own content to write for this issue as well.

Tomorrow should find me driving out to Rice to check the mailbox and pick up some chipboard I have saved, and then come home and do something crafty. I really should start painting again. It’s been months since I painted. I also need to repost my art on passion groove.

I’m not sure about the mood icons I have here, so I might make some new icons. I don’t know yet. Right now, I should get to bed.
