About Misty and BGS

No Comments Filed Under: random

I am Misty. I live in St. Cloud, MN.

[You’ll find some references to “Orlok” in early entries. Orlok and I were married until June, 2007, when we were granted our divorce.]

Firstly, I’m an artist. I work at a thrift store, as well as a print shop and for a visual arts service.

I paint, both with acrylics and digitally with Paint Shop Pro X. I crochet, sew, make jewelry, work with wire, make journals and books, create booklets, do various types of layout and type-setting on computer, make beads with polymer clay and make zines.

I used to write/edit Stamper 62, which made it to two issues. I also co-wrote honeybunches with Orlok for a 48-hour zine contest. I’ve been working on a random per-zine called Yeah, but still…, which has one issue so far. However, my regular zine project is a quarterly litzine called It Takes All Kinds.

BGS stands for Brave Girl Studio. Orlok called me “brave girl” all the time, so it seemed fitting. I also think there’s an element of bravery everytime someone publishes/creates an independent/personal project. Just me waxing philosophical there. BGS is the home of all of my writing and printing projects, as well as an ideas journal.

Feel free to look around, and contact me anytime with questions and comments.
